Once my daughter started kindergarten last year, she started spending lots of time in other parents’ cars – going from soccer, to T-ball, to gymnastics, and to playdates. I’m often asked if I have an extra booster – something I should, but don’t have. So, when I learned about BubbleBum, an award-winning portable, lightweight, US Federal Safety Standard Approved, inflatable car booster seat, I was intrigued. If this really was as great as it seemed, it would really be a fabulous “extra” booster to have on hand.
The BubbleBum is surprisingly durable, and very portable. It does only come in the dark purple (as shown in the photo), but at least that’s a color that won’t get dirty quickly. It’s meant for kids over the age of three (preferably four) who are from forty to eighty pounds, and who can stay off their knees for the entire car ride.
I’ll admit, I had a few safety concerns when I heard about this, but the BubbleBum has some fabulous safety information on their site which made me feel that it really is safe. It’s also so easy to use – just inflate by blowing into the valve (takes about half a minute), then install it in your car with the car’s lap belt.
While I think of the BubbleBum as a spare seat, it can be used as a primary seat. Its small size makes older kids more happy to use than a larger seat. To learn more about the BubbleBum inflatable booster seat on their website, and you can purchase at Amazon.com.
