My not quite curly/not quite straight hair doesn’t play well with the humidity. And with two summer European trips this season, I’ve been desperate for some tips on how to get rid of frizzy hair. I’ve found some great tips – here’s what has worked best for me.

Get Rid of Frizzy Hair
I got my first keratin treatment last fall, and loved it. It does require some maintenance (not washing for a few days, then washing with sulfate-free shampoo), and it can be expensive. Be sure to talk to your stylist since it may not work for everyone.
Avoid Damaging Your Hair
This is important. Did you know that rubbing your wet hair with a towel can damage it? I use a microfiber towel to wrap up my hair, without towel drying it. I also use a wet hair comb to get gently remove tangles. On the days that I don’t wash my hair, I love this shower cap to keep my hair completely dry. That way, I don’t have to use any extra heat on my hair to dry it (which can also damage your hair). Also, whenever possible, I try to let my hair air dry (or at least partially air dry) if I have enough time.
Use Products to Fight Frizz
Sulfate-free shampoo can help fight frizz, as can a good hair treatment. I love using this one before drying my hair. I also love this shimmering mist – but don’t use too much or your hair may get oily.
Try Beachy Waves
On days that I don’t want to dry my hair, I opt for beachy waves. There are lots of products on the market that can help, including this spray that can help give your hair texture without adding frizz.
Curl Your Hair
I’ve raved about this curling iron before, and I definitely recommend it for adding nice bouncy curls to your hair.
Wear Your Hair Up
For our upcoming European trip, I’ve been working on some casual updos that will keep my hair off my neck. Updos are a great way to deal with frizzy hair in the summer, especially if you are traveling.
Get a Great Hat
When all else fails, get a great hat to wear. As a benefit, it can also help protect your hair, scalp, ears, and face from the sun.
