I have a personal goal this summer – to organize my house! One tool I'm using is my new DYMO Labelmaker. Widely available at Wal-Mart, Target, and Staples, the DYMO Labelmaker is extremely easy to use, and makes organizing and labeling things easy.
Setting it up was super-easy. It takes 4 AA batteries and a label refill (a basic white label one is included). After quickly setting up my language of choice and the date, it was ready to use. With a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) screen, it's really easy to tell how the label will print out.
I can find a million uses for the labelmaker – especially with some of the label types that are available separately. WIth the auto date feature, you can label perishable foods, baby foods, or formula with the current date so that you know when it's time to toss. The magnetic labels are perfect for organizing file cabinets, while the iron on labels are great for clothes! For bulk labeling, the DYMO is perfect since you won't have to re-enter the name a bunch of times. I used my labelmaker recently for reorganizating all of our home and financial paperwork!
For a new baby, the Clutter Queen, Jennifer Humes, has some tips:
- Car seats and strollers look alike. Label yours with your baby's name to distinguish it from others. Making tape with magic market is just too ugly and can peel off or fade over time. Consider using a product like the DYMO Personal Labelmaker – not only does it look better, it is easy to read, will not tear or fade over time, and you can print multiple labels without having to re-enter the information.
- Since babies outgrow clothes quickly, hand-me-downs for new parents are helpful and common. Stay organized by purchasing several clear containers to sort and label clothing by age – newborn-3 months, 3-6 months, etc. You'll be able to visually see what you will use as they grow up and clothing is easily accessible for future hand-me-downs or the next baby.
- Before heading to the hospital, use DYMO Personal Labelmaker's clear or metallic labels to identify valuables such as cell phones, iPods, digital cameras and camcorders. With so much going on you don't want to lose anything. Include your name and a phone number for a speedy and safe return.
