I’m very, very, very Type A, and manage to get lots of things done only with diligent planning. If you are a regular reader on this site, you know that I am a big proponent of planning both on a long term and short term basis. I also spend plenty of time on Sunday nights planning out my week, which is a great way to maximize your time. If you love using your planner, or know someone who does, you probably know that there are a variety of great products that help make planning fun and easy. Gift Ideas for a Planner Lover
Planners
Of course, you’ve got to start with a planner, and the end of the year is the perfect time to get a brand new one for the upcoming year. I love giving Erin Condren teacher planners to my kids’ teachers, although they also have great everyday planners as well. For someone who needs more of a business planner, the Day Designer is perfect because it helps you organize each day. These days, I’m using a Happy Planner, which is available in several stores including Michaels. It’s robust enough for my purposes, and is also flexible.
Traveler’s Notebooks
Another option is a traveler’s notebook, which is a leather (or other material) notebook cover. You can purchase them in several different sizes, from a variety of different artisans. These covers come with internal strings that you can add notebooks and folders to. I like to use traveler’s notebooks as travel planners, and to bring along with me to conferences and other events. Some people also use the smaller sizes as wallets. You’ll find traveler’s notebooks in some craft stores, as well as online. My favorite retailer is Foxy Fix. Just keep in mind that it can take several weeks for these to be handcrafted, so order well in advance of when you’ll need it.
Notebooks
If you purchase a traveler’s notebook (TN), you’ll need notebooks to go in it. Some TN retailers also offer their own line of notebooks. My favorite line, however, is May Designs. You can even purchase a May Designs notebook that includes a calendar right inside. These notebooks can all be personalized and come in fun, vibrant designs.
Pens
Writing in your planner can actually be fun, with the right type of pens. I generally color code my kids’ schedules in my planner, so I enjoy using a variety of different colors. Juice pens by Pilot are fun to write with and come in a bunch of vibrant colors. I personally prefer fine tip pens, so these are perfect.
Sometimes, I have to write things in my planner that aren’t quite set in stone. In those cases, I like using FriXion pens because they are erasable.
Another fun pen brand is PenGems, which offers glitter pens with a colorful gem on the top. These pens have an almost cult following, and their limited edition pens can be extremely difficult to get.
Stickers
Planner lovers also enjoy personalizing their planners with stickers, which can be a quick way to note an important day or appointment. Etsy sellers offer a whole variety of stickers – so search the site to find the perfect ones.
