My daughter loves clothes. She always saves her allowance to buy more, and longingly looks in my closet for things that may fit her. She has a sporty style, which works well with her lifestyle as an active kid. Buying clothes for her is generally pretty easy, because her style is so well defined. But I never enjoy shopping with her, because she always wants EVERYTHING – even things that she doesn’t specifically need. So I was very excited to try out Kidbox, a clothes delivery service for kids. My daughter was equally excited. She loves getting mail and loves clothes, so it is the perfect combination.
Kidbox is a relatively new company that offers style delivery for kids from toddlers to about age 14. They offer items for both boys and girls. Sign up is so easy. I went on with my daughter and easily went through the sign up process. We added her name and age, and selected her sizes for tops and bottoms. I’m glad that we were able to choose two different sizes, since she wears a smaller size for bottoms. Given her sporty style, we chose the “Chill/Sporty” style from the four options. You can also choose any styles to avoid, such as prints and short hemlines, as well as specific colors to avoid. Finally, you are able to indicate which popular retailers you already shop, as well as which traits make your child special. My daughter loved filling out the profile, and it made her look forward to getting the box because she was so curious what the results would be for the answers she provided.
When the Kidbox arrived, she was so excited to open it. Boxes for kids aged 4 and up come with about 6-7 items from a variety of brands. If anything doesn’t fit, you can actually ask for it to be exchanged for another size. Everything in my daughter’s box fit perfectly, as was exactly appropriate given her style and our profile answers. This was her favorite outfit.
Once you receive the box, you have seven days to decide if you want to return anything. Your card isn’t charged until those seven days pass, and you’ll get free shipping both ways. If you purchase single items in the box, you’ll pay a discounted rate – otherwise you can get the whole box for $98. You can see how this works in this photo of our invoice.
Kidbox also gives back to kids in need. Through a relationship with K.I.D.S/Fashion Delivers, they provide a box of clothes to kids in need with each complete box purchased. After we accepted this entire box, my daughter and I were able to choose where to send the box (from some general options). It’s a great opportunity to have a conversation about giving back.
Kidbox offers boxes for each season. This box we received was for the summer. But, it’s not a subscription – you can return anything with no obligation at all. I loved our experience with Kidbox and will definitely order a box for my son too. Shopping with him is challenging and I love the idea of skipping the mall – especially for back to school season.
