My son loves playing with his Nintendo 3DS XL, and frequently brings it with him when we are on the go. It’s become his favorite toy for travel, and he carries around his games in a small carrying pouch so that he always has them with him. We recently received the new Mario Party Star Rush game, and it’s one of his favorites.
Mario Party Star Rush Review
Fans of the Mario series of games will love the new Mario Party Star Rush, a Nintendo 3DS game that retails for $39.99. This one game features seven modes, including Toad Scramble, Coinathlon, and Mario Shuffle. The game can be played with up to three additional players using local wireless or download play – or you can play by yourself. With download play, you only need one copy of the game. Players are able to choose their own characters, including popular Mario™ characters like Luigi™, Peach™, Daisy™, Wario™, Waluigi™, Donkey Kong™, Rosalina, Toadette, and Yoshi™. Characters, as well as games, can be unlocked by playing mini games.
Mario Party Star Rush compatible with the Super Mario series amiibo figures, as well as seven brand-new amiibo that are available for purchase (including Daisy, Waluigi and glow-in-the-dark Boo). Although you don’t need an amiibo, playing with one will give you special bonuses depending on the game – like doubling rewards or providing special items.
My son’s favorite of the modes is Toad Scramble. In Toad Scramble, you are essentially playing a board game against three other people (either computer generated, or real people, if you’ve connected). In that game alone, there are separate minigames and boss battles, where you defeat villains in the Mario world). He also likes Rhythm Recital, where you need to play along to the music you select, with the instrument that you select.
