With my son in kindergarten and my daughter in first grade, they’ve both moved beyond the preschool stage, and are now little people. People with their own opinions, talents, and personalities. I’ve loved watching their little personalities emerge – it’s like a small insight into what they’ll be like as adults.
My daughter is the connector. She’s smart, but what will propel her into success is her glowing personality. She’s always happy, always smiling, and people want to be around her. She’s also incredibly observant and has a fabulous memory. The world is her oyster – she can do almost anything she wants to do.
The little guy is more shy but he’s incredibly intelligent. He already knows his way around a computer, iPhone, and iPad, and every day, he learns a new skill. He’s quiet and prefers smaller groups. He’s not quite Type-A – he’s more sensitive than that. He’s got a quiet intelligence and I can’t wait to see him flourish.
The best thing? Growing up, I was an exact combination of the two of them. I never had the social skills my daughter has, but I was certainly social, with the observation skills and memory. But, I also had a bit of that quiet intellect that my son has. It’s amazing to see the two of them grow up.
