This month’s Mason jar design is all about spring! I am so ready for some bright decor in my home, and this Mason jar would be great with a beautiful bouquet of artificial spring flowers.
Rustic Spring DIY Mason Jar
To make it, you’ll need the following:
- A plain Mason jar
- Wide bristle brush
- Finer brush
- Blue acrylic paint
- White acrylic paint
- Sandpaper or coarse nail file (optional)
- Colorful paper straws (optional)
Clean the Mason jar and dry it thoroughly. Using the wide bristle brush, paint one coat of blue paint all over the jar. When that dries, apply another one. Don’t be too concerned if the paint streaks – that’s all part of the rustic look.
I hand painted the white polka dots on the jar by hand with the fine brush. They do not have to be perfect, so just draw them as best as you can.
When the polka dots dry, wet the wide brush and dip it in the blue paint. Run the brush very lightly over the whole Mason jar, streaking the white dots with some blue.
As a final step, use the sandpaper or a coarse nail file over the jar to buff off some of the paint, adding to the rustic look.
I put some colorful spring paper straws in my Mason jar, but you could also add spring flowers.
