TJX, the parent company of popular off-price stores TJMaxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods, recently opened a brand-new concept. HomeSense, which isn't the same as the HomeSense concept in Europe and Canada, is complement to HomeGoods, not a replacement. The first store, located in Framingham, MA, opened earlier this month. Since it's located near my home, I decided to check it out.
Shopping at TJX's New HomeSense Store
Upon walking into the new HomeSense store, I immediately saw the differences from HomeGoods. The front of the store features an extensive lighting and furniture section, filled with beautiful lamps (from brands such as Kate Spade), hanging lighting, sofas, tables, and novelty furniture (for a man cave, for instance).
Although I am not currently in the market for new furniture, I definitely saw a variety of things that would be great in my home. The furniture is set up with a selection of accessories and accents, like pillows, and vases, so you can see how things would look in your home. At the time of my visit, there were both neutral and statement pieces.
The back of the store features a large selection of rugs and wall decor. There's a good variety of decor styles from modern to traditional.
While the furniture section does feature some home accents, there are also others on shelves in their own section. I especially loved the blue/green vases – they would be perfect in my home. There's also a great selection of throw pillows.
Like HomeGoods, the store also offers bathroom furnishings, dishes, towels, bedding, kitchen supplies, and packaged gourmet food. These sections at HomeSense seem to be a little smaller than those sections at HomeGoods. But the selection is great – with lots of neutral designs. There's also a section with party paper goods – things like gift bags and gift wrap.
HomeSense features a new section, called the General Store, which includes small hardware fixtures (like knobs and hooks), home office products, and cleaning supplies.
I definitely think I'll be visiting HomeSense first when I'm looking for new home accents, lamps, or furniture. There's a large enough selection that I'm likely to find something perfect.
This new HomeSense store is one of four that are planned for this year – the other locations are in Massachusetts and New Jersey. You can learn more about the store and the planned locations on the HomeSense website.
