Finding clothes that fit me well is a challenge. I'm so petite that even petite clothes don't always fit. But I'm not super skinny, and definitely have curves. I know what I like, but sometimes what I like doesn't always look good on me. So, when I initially heard about Stitch Fix from some friends, I was skeptical. Could a personal stylist who I never met really find the best clothes for me? With only a $20 styling fee, it seemed worth the risk.
Stitch Fix Review
To sign up for Stitch Fix, first you fill out a very detailed questionnaire with sizing, budget, lifestyle, and style preferences. You can also link a Pinterest board and LinkedIn profile, to give your stylist more information. I didn't find the questionnaire to be too overwhelming – it was fun and quick to fill out. Once everything is set up, you can select a date for your first “fix”. Right now, with the increasing popularity of Stitch Fix – and the holiday season – they are booking 4-6 weeks out.
When it's time for you to get your Fix, you'll pay a $20 styling fee, and your stylist will select your items. Then, your box will ship. You'll receive five items, and have three business days to return anything you don't like. It's best to provide very detailed feedback to your stylist – it will help for future shipments. If you buy at least one item, you'll get a $20 credit to reimburse for the styling fee, and if you buy all five items, you'll get a 25% discount on the entire shipment.
So, how did my Stitch Fix work out? Well, when I opened the box, I was surprised to see a pair of jeans. Jeans are nearly impossible for me to buy – they are usually too long and simultaneously too tight and too loose. But these jeans that my stylist picked out must have been magic jeans – because they fit perfectly – even the length! (see photo above).
I also loved the sheer blue top (also in the photo), and a stretchy black and white shirt – all fit perfectly.
My box contained a tank dress that didn't fit perfectly, as well as a beautiful emerald green and blue scarf. I would have returned the dress, but it was the cheapest item in the box, and losing that 25% discount would have ended up costing me. I'll pair the dress with a cardigan and it'll look great!
I definitely will be ordering more boxes from Stitch Fix – I'm so curious to see what else I'll get.
