I love shopping online – I love the convenience, and I love the huge selection of items to choose from. I definitely do a lot of shopping on Amazon.com, because it is so easy. If you like shopping on Amazon, here are a few tips for saving money on Amazon.com.
Tips for Saving Money on Amazon.com
Get Amazon Prime
You probably already have Amazon Prime, but if you don't, you are missing out. Not only do Prime members get free 2-day shipping on many items, you will also have access to much more, including Amazon Prime Instant Video, Prime Music, Prime Photos (free photo storage!), and the Kindle lending library. I find that it pretty much pays for itself by the first quarter of the year. On the rare occasion that Amazon doesn't deliver within the promised timeframe, you can often get a small credit or an extension on your subscription. Also, if you don't need the item within the 2-day timeframe, you can often take advantage of various promotions to forgo the fast shipping. In the past, I've received credits to Amazon Pantry and to Amazon Instant Video. If you don't have Amazon Prime, you can click here to Try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial.
Know Your Prices
It's important to know what you would pay for a similar item at another store. Amazon.com is open to third-party sellers, and sometimes you'll find that a price isn't the lowest available. Know what you should expect to pay, and don't press that buy button until you are satisfied that you are getting a good deal. It's also a great idea to read the reviews, which will often provide great information about the product.
I buy some of the same stuff every month – things like vitamins, dog food, toilet paper, and coffee. Now, I use Amazon Subscribe and Save to get these things delivered to me every month. With Subscribe and Save, you get a discount off the list price and free shipping (discount increases as you add more items to your delivery). For me, it works out great, because I used to make separate trips to the pet store and other stores just to buy these items each month.
Shopping Amazon Pantry is a little different than shopping the rest of Amazon.com. For a set price of $5.99 shipping, you can purchase a box full of regular-sized grocery and household items. You can get a lot of items in the box, so it's good to stock up on necessities. There are also coupons you can use on these items – check them out here.
You can get great deals on open-box and returned items through Amazon Warehouse.
Every day, Amazon.com offers fantastic deals on their Gold Box Deals page. Items are limited, so if you are interested in something, buy it!
