I love color. I love looking at the beautiful seasonal cosmetics palettes that are in the stores. I love staring at the walls of paint samples at a hardware store. When I put together an outfit, I always like to add color – whether it’s a brightly colored top, a handbag, or shoes. So I was pretty excited to hear that Fruit of the Loom teamed up Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. to create a series of videos for their Hue for You campaign. The videos showcase how color plays a role in how people are perceived, and how people feel. Although I hadn’t specifically thought about this before, I found myself nodding my head along as I watched.
Passion for Color:
This video is a great overview of Leatrice’s background, and why she loves working with colors. Like her, I also got a degree in Psychology (like Economics) because I thought it would be great to know what drives people.
Did you know that some colors are more “energetic” than others? Of the colors that Leatrice describes as energetic colors, I think my favorite is red. When you wear these energetic colors, people automatically assume that you have more energy.
I definitely agree that some colors can definitely make you look more confident. I love how she explains that these confident colors don’t have to be worn as the main color – they can be used as a pop of color.
This video talks about how people are attracted to color, possibly from their own background and experiences. My favorite color overall is blue, and I think that’s because I’ve always loved the ocean.
Again, she talks about reds and pinks and how they relate to love and romance.
This video talks about transeasonal colors, and how you should wear what looks good and feels good. I totally agree with that – if you don’t think you look good, you won’t be confident or happy.
What is your favorite color?
